In 2004 the Irish Woolfest was a Regional New South Wales Flagship Event supported by Tourism New South Wales and it has been recognised as a Significant Festival for the region as winner of the Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards in 2003 and a finalist in the News South Wales Tourism Awards in 2003. In 2004 it received a Commendation as a Significant Festival & Event at the Canberra & Capital Regional Tourism Awards. The “Running of the Sheep” remains our signature event when our usually docile merino sheep rampage down the main street of Boorowa. Other well-loved events are the Blessing of the Fleece, the colourful street parade, and top Irish dancers and bands. We invite your Company to support Boorowa in its efforts to showcase the town to visitors, which in turn brings return visitation to revitalise the development of the shire. The Irish Woolfest is developing a following as an exciting Festival, which attracts top performers. Your Company’s partnership in this event will show your support of a town to which you have connections and which continues to experience drought. This liaison will help the Committee to maintain the high standard Irish Woolfest for which it has become known.
